The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a healthy lifestyles program. It is available to AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware members at no cost. You do not need a YMCA membership to join.

DPP can help its members:

  • Lose weight.
  • Adopt healthy habits.
  • Greatly lower their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Work toward healthy goals

The program is set up to teach you skills that can help you:

  • Reach a healthy weight.
  • Be more active.
  • Manage stress.

The program can help you lower your weight by up to 7%. It also aims to ramp up your physical activity to 150 minutes per week.

How does DPP work?

DPP is currently virtual only. That means you can join in from any smartphone, tablet, or computer.

DPP is a 12-month program that meets once a week for the first 16 weeks. After that, you will meet once a month.

Classes focus on helping you make healthier food choices and get more activity. You will have one-on-one meetings with a health coach. You will also have a small group of people just like you for support.

How do I find out if I qualify?

AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware members who are identified as having prediabetes can qualify for the program.
